I Saw the Sisters of Mercy
It was their first U.S. show in 15 years, and it was kind of a disaster. It was great for the first thirty minutes or so, but then, during Marianne, something weird happened with Andrew Eldritch's mic and he was completely inaudible for six or seven songs in a row! I wound up leaving early as it was too weird just hearing the backup vocalists for so many songs. They did play some new material, which was interesting, but I couldn't deal with the technical difficulties.
On the plus side, there were some first-rate people watching opportunities, but it was definitely an older crowd. Dudes in their sixties with mom jeans and Swans tanktops spooky dancing, and lots of big hair swinging hard over old velvet coats.
I also got to do something I've wanted to do for years: When I was a DJ, the received Goth wisdom was to put on This Corrosion before taking a bathroom break because the song is over ten minutes long so you'll have plenty of time to get there and back without dead air (or a dropped beat). So on my way out, I finally got to take a bathroom break to This Corrosion live, so I can cross that off my bucket list at least.
