My Name is Claude!
In memoriam Appius Claudius Pulcher (aka Claude Rabbit)
When bunnies spoke through human tongues,
and many rabbit tales were spun,
each story, whether true or flawed,
would always end: "My name is Claude!"
We called that bun by many names
Pepper? Bonker? All the same,
Though "Claudius" might get a nod,
He always knew "My name is Claude!"
His scientific tests were crude:
"If it fits inside my mouth, it's food!"
Though eating wires and wood was odd,
He proved past doubt "My name is Claude!"
Where do good rabbits go at last?
When present friends beyond have past?
Though buns may yet greet lepus gods,
we know, at least, his name was Claude.
